The Valley of Waves water park is Sun City’s legendary hub for all kinds of water fun. Offering family-friendly water activities that appeal to adventurers of all ages, there is something for everyone at this iconic Sun City water park. Both day visitors and Sun City Resort guests are invited to enjoy a full day of exciting activities, with a designated children’s area and lifeguards on duty.

The main attraction at Valley of Waves is the Roaring Lagoon which is a man-made beach– a 6 500 square metre wave pool with hydraulic mechanisms that generate waves of nearly 2 metres high.

Sun City’s Valley of Waves for Adrenalin Junkies

Perhaps even more famous than the Valley of Waves, the Temple of Courage promises an exhilarating adrenalin rush with a 17-metre drop down a 70-metre slide. The almost vertical slide takes riders hurtling under a bridge and splashing into a small pool. There are also two body slides – the Tarantula and the Scorpion, and two tube rides – the Viper and the Mamba.

Sun City’s Valley of Waves for Relaxation

The Lazy River offers a gentle, non-stop tube ride around an island while The Royal Baths swimming pool beside the Amphitheatre offers a place to soak up some warm sun rays, cocktail in hand.

There are also a number of walkways through tropical forests surrounding Valley of Waves. Here you can explore and discover the Spider Web Sway Bridge, hidden cave waterfalls, rare plant varieties and more.

Things to do in Sun City

1. Hot Air Ballooning over Pilanesberg

Hot Air Ballooning is undoubtedly the finest way to view the park and its wildlife. This adventure takes approximately 4 hours and includes an early morning pick up from your hotel, a guided drive to the launch site situated in the centre of the Pilanesberg National Park, then drift serenely for approximately 1 hour over the park.

On landing a sparkling wine celebration is served, which is followed by a game drive to a private lodge for a full English breakfast. During breakfast a first flight certificate will be presented to you for this memorable experience.

2. Motseng Cultural Village

Situated in the Sun City Resort within walking distances of the hotels is the Motseng Cultural Village. A true visual experience of African cultures and customs that concentrates on the eight main tribes of South Africa with reflections of cultures, traditions, architecture, dress and regalia.

Motseng contributes towards preserving that which makes us African and proud, and it gives the African people an opportunity to demonstrate to the world, the pride and passion they have for their culture.

It gives them an opportunity to honour their legends through song and dance, to display their unique artistic skills through arts and craft and to demonstrate their hospitality by treating visitors to a true African meal.

3. Predator world

Guided tours are the perfect way to get to see those elusive predators that you do not always have the privilege to spot in the wild. Tours are structured around how our guests arrive, so you might have to wait 10 minute for the next tour, but never longer than that.

Zoo by Night:
(Bookings essential): This is an amazing opportunity to see predators up close and personal after dark. The tour starts as dusk settles and continues through the zoo as darkness falls. Armed only with your guide and a spotlight, this is a real adrenaline rush. You may combine your tour with one of our famous burgers or a bush braai.

Cheetah Interaction:
Cheetah interaction is fun, exciting and a bit of an adrenaline rush. You have the opportunity to go into an enclosure with two of our adult cheetahs for some amazing photo opportunities. No persons under the age of 16, pregnant woman or people with serious disabilities allowed on this activity.

Game Drives & Picnics:
Go on a Game Drive on our private game farm with a chance to spot white rhino, zebra, giraffe, gemsbok, kudu, eland, warthog and abundant bird life. You could also book a picnic game drive where, after your drive you may enjoy a picnic basket in an enchanting area on our game farm.

4. Segway Gliding Tours at Sun City

Have you ever been on a Segway? Well here is your chance, go to Sun City and take a lesson, learn how to shift your weight to make this personal transporter move smoothly in the direction you want. Once you are comfortable with it you won’t want to get off.

Wheel through the Lost City golf course or take a tour alongside the beautiful lake. If you feel as though you are now at expert level why not get off the path and go off road on the more challenging route.

Here you will roll through the golf course and glide along the edge of the Pilanesberg National Park where you may be lucky enough to see one or some of the big 5 as well as many other animals. This is an experience like no other, so what are you waiting for?

5. Go Gambling at Sun City

The Sun City Casino, situated in the Sun City Hotel, is open 365 days of the year. The tables open for play at 13h00 (midweek) and 11h00 (weekends) until close in the early hours of the following morning. The dress code in the casino is smart-casual.
